Kristina Tuason-DeWeerd
Founder

A native of Northern Nevada, Kristina cut her teeth staging private residences and vacation properties all over the San Francisco Bay Area. After renovating a century-old craftsman bungalow and a short stint traveling the West Coast in a converted camper van, she fell in love with Portland and officially made it her home.

After feeling there wasn’t a studio doing quite the kind of work she wanted to do, she opened Jica (her middle name) in 2021. She currently lives in Southwest Portland with her husband Michael, son Julian and fur babies Bowie and Fred.

Go-to road trip snack? Oat milk iced matcha and cool ranch Doritos

If you could splurge on one piece of furniture or decor, what would it be? Tyler Hays of BDDW does these modern Delftware-inspired ceramic tiles that I’m obsessed with. I wouldn’t be able to resist plastering my bathroom in them if I had the opportunity.

Artist you’re currently inspired by? Chloe Wise, Tyler Mitchell, Faye Wei Wei

Favorite places you’ve traveled to? I’m a huge pasta person and had the best Carbonara I’ve ever had in Avignon, France. Bilbao and Barcelona really know how to have a good time, not to mention the beautiful architecture. My family is from the Philippines; it’s a wild place with gorgeous islands that I would go back to every year if I could.

What are you watching right now? I’m always watching Real Housewives

Kristina's level of service is exceptional! Her walkthrough was warm, positive, and non-judgmental followed by an easy to understand proposal for my client to review. The execution was even better than I expected (and I generally have high expectations). She gave the property a big breath of fresh air… Trust Kristina with your home staging needs!

Go-to road trip snack? Iced Coffee and Cheetos

Favorite places you’ve traveled to? I love traveling in the fall and Edinburgh, Scotland is one of my favorite cites to visit during that time of year. My ideal day would be spent hopping from a coffee shop to a castle tour, followed by an evening in a cozy pub. I also loved eating my way through the coastal cities of Spain, Portugal and France!

Favorite house or hotel in a show or movie? The Italian villa in Call Me By Your Name or any of the Nancy Meyers houses.

What artists do you currently have on repeat? Hovvdy, Dijon and Big Thief have been getting a lot of plays recently.

Dog or cat person? Dogs all the way! Can’t wait to add another to our family!

What are you watching right now? I’m currently in my annual rewatch of my favorite comfort show, Gilmore Girls.

Current favorite design trends? I love that the 70’s has been making a comeback. Rich colors, statement sofas, and chunky accessories, I love it all. The 70’s took such bold components to give maximalism in the best way possible.

What artists do you always have on repeat? Anything by Lana Del Rey, Oriville Peck, or Noah Kahn is what’s playing!

Artist you’re currently inspired by? I recently came across Gustaf Westman on TikTok, who’s an architect turned designer. In their Sweden studio, you can find an assortment of statement pieces, varying from coffee tables to dishware. Westman’s pieces take a funky and eclectic approach to everyday furniture and decor that I just love.

Dog or cat person? The best part of my day is waking up and being greeted with purrs from my 16 lb orange tabby boy. I know he just wants food, but I’ll take his love where I can get it!
